Med school faculty completes Course on Occupational Medicine

Faculty members of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University School of Medicine Dr Ellery Ivan Apolinario and Dr Floro Dave Arnuco completed the Basic Course on Occupational Medicine (BCOM) held last February 25 to March 4, 2017 in St. Paul College, Pasig City.
BCOM is a 64-hour contact course that provides the physician with the current concepts and the practical tools, including Hazards and Safety, Hygiene, Workerâs Health, Toxicology, and Risk Assessment and Management.
The course is designed to equip medical doctors with the knowledge and skills to promote and maintain the highest degree of physical, mental, social well-being of workers in all occupations. Aside from current issues and trends on occupational health, discussed also were pertinent laws and legislation related to Occupational Health and Safety.
The BCOM is conducted by the Philippine College of Occupational Medicine, Inc (PCOM), and is duly accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment in compliance with Article 162 of the Labor Code of the Philippines on mandatory occupational safety and health standards.
