The is a pre- and post-intervention research study to determine the efficacy of locally made supplementary mix, an intervention for acutely malnourished children 6 months – 36 months were determined, done for 6 consecutive weeks with a total of 28 respondents. Convenient sample was used with intention to recruit the total count of malnourished children aged 6 months – 36 months old in the area. Prior the start of the intervention the respondents’ weight, mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) and nutritional status were measure and set as baseline. During the intervention phase, the respondents’ weight, mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) and nutritional status were monitored. After the 6 weeks intervention, there is a mean weight gain of 720 grams, and mean increase of 0.7cm in MUAC. The increase in weight and MUAC is significant having a p-value of 0.000 and 0.000 in both weight and MUAC. Sixty-seven percent of the respondent have normal weight-for-age. The LMSM is made of ingredients locally found in Barangay Poblacion, Lake Wood, Zamboanga del Sur. The study showed that locally made supplementary was effective in improving the nutritional status of children.
