This study was counducted to determine the effectiveness of lecture regarding modern family planning in improving the knowledge and practices among women of reproductive age in Barangays Bag-ong Kahayag and Pinoles, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur. This study utilized a pre and post interventional study which included reproductive aged women (age 15-49 years old) non-family planning acceptors. A 30-item questionnaire was given to the respondents before the intervention, immediately after, one month and two months later. The researcher conducted a one day lecture in each barangays presented in a PowerPoint that lasted for an hour. There were 75 respondents included in the study. The mean score of knowledge was 3.9. There was a significant increase in the mean knowledge score during pre-intervention from 3.9 to 7.2 during post-intervention 1 with P-value of 0.000. However, on Pos-intervention 1 and 3, there was knowledge decay and their score were considered fail. Practices also increased from 0 to 29 newly family planning acceptors. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) for Repeated Measures was used to compare the total knowledge scores before and after the intervention. Frequencies and percentages were used to compare the practices. Based on this study, it concluded that lecture is not effective in improving the knowledge and practices of reproductive age women in Barangay Bag-ong Kahayag and Barangay Pinoles, Lakewood, Zamboanga del Sur.
