This study aimed to determine the effect of information campaign as a means of decreasing the use of battery solution in rubber latex processing by farmers in Barangay Kitabog, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay. This is a pre and post interventional study with a sample size of 42. Baseline data for the knowledge was elicited using a pretest questionnaire given to the respondents prior to the intervention. Post intervention data on knowledge was elicited using a posttest questionnaire handed out to the respondents immediately after the campaign. Baseline data for the practice was gathered by testing the rubber products of the target population using a nanosensor developed by the DLSU in coordination with the DOST-PCAARRD which detects rubber processed with battery solution. Post intervention data for the practice was gathered five months after the intervention using the same nanosensor. Results showed that there is a significant increase in the knowledge of the respondents after the intervention with the mean score increasing from 6.05 during pretest score to 9.00 on the posttest with a mean difference of -2.95, p-value of 0.000 and 95% confidence interval. Comparison between the pre and post intervention data show a decrease in the number of respondents who use battery solution in processing their rubber latex from 32 (76.2%) to 8 (19%).The study therefore concludes that information campaign is effective in decreasing the usage of battery solution in processing of rubber by farmers in Barangay Kitabog, Titay, Zamboanga Sibugay.
