The study was conducted to determine the effect of lecture on oral health and primary caregiver guided tooth brushing sessions in addressing oral health problems among Filipino children. This study used a pre and post interventional research design and aimed to determine the knowledge and skills of the primary caregivers on proper tooth brushing before and after the intervention; assess the skills of children in proper tooth brushing after intervention; and to assess the dental health status of the children before and after the intervention. To measure the knowledge of the primary caregivers they would be asked to answer a pre and post intervention questionnaire, lecture and return demonstration to the primary caregivers would be done on the topic of proper tooth brushing and importance of oral health, they would also be graded with the use of a checklist for their skills in doing guided tooth brushing to their children and the children would be graded for their skills in performing proper tooth brushing with the use of a skills check list. The children’s oral health status was checked up, with the help of the Municipal Dentist would be needed to do a pre and post intervention oral health check-up and the result was recorded in an oral health status checklist. Data gathered in the study was analysed with statistical procedure in Stata MP v 13. McNemar test, was used on knowledge item analysis and mean scores were treated with analysis of variance for repeated procedures. The pre-test and post-test on the primary caregivers had no significant increase in knowledge. The results on the skills of the children in proper tooth brushing shows an insignificant result as the pre-evaluation showed that 72% of the children passed and with the succeeding post –evaluations 1 and 2 there was a noted decrease in the number of children that passed. Post-evaluation 3 only 69% of the children were noted to have passed. The study concludes that lecture on oral health and primary care giver guided tooth brushing session did not have an effect on the oral health status of the respondents.
