This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of Pinoy Nutrition Hub (PNH) in addition to standard health care in improving the feeding practices of mothers and nutritional status of undernourished children 6 months to 59 months of age as compared with Standard Health Care group (SHC).This was a quasi-experimental study designed to compare the theoretical feeding practices of mothers and the nutritional status of their undernourished children between the PNH and the SHC group. It utilized the pre and post interventional research design to compare any improvement on mother’s theoretical feeding practices. A total of 88 respondents were recruited for this study having 44 respondents for each of the PNH and Standard Care Groups. The intervention was a 12-day PNH session located in a home setting. During these sessions, small groups of mothers with malnourished children met in one of their homes and prepared a nutritious meal for their children using food they have contributed. Interactive nutrition education was also done using the PDI Key Findings, along with topics about nutrition. A self-administered questionnaire and food chart was utilized to assess the improvement in practices of mothers before the intervention, after the 12 days PNH session, after 1 month and on the 3rd month of intervention. Wilcoxon signed rank was utilized to measure alterations in practices within the groups. Mann-Whitney test was used in comparing practices between the twogroups. The result on the food chart was measured and analyzed using ANOVA.Independent T-test was used in comparing the meal pattern prepared between the two groups. Results showed that PNH group had more improvement than SHC group in the theoretical practices and meal pattern prepared by the mothers (p<0.00). A total of 32 (72.7%) children in the PNH group were rehabilitated, 8 were still underweight and only 4 (9%) remained severely underweight. On the other hand, 11(25%) of the children in SHC group have improved in their nutritional status, 25 remained underweight and 8 (18%) are still severely underweight. Results showed thatPNH in addition to standard health care have more improvements on the theoretical feeding practices and nutritional status of children in comparison to standard health care alone.
