In the municipality of Tampilisan, the estimated number of teenage mothers is as high as 231 women. Only 58 out of 231 or 25% of teenage mothers in the municipality were recorded as family planning users. The objective of the study was to determine if there is a significant difference in the acceptance rate of modern family planning methods among the teenage mothers exposed to Usapang Pwede Pa in the municipality. This study utilized a one group pre- and post-intervention study design and was conducted at 11 different barangays. Usapan Session is an intervention that started with an interactive group discussion followed by a lecture on modern family planning methods, one-on-one counselling and provision of contraception. The session lasted for approximately 2-3 hours. There was a total of 39 respondents in the study. 31 out of 39 (79.5%) accepted family planning methods at the end of the session. Data was analyzed using McNemar test and revealed a significant increase with p-value of 0.000. The most common method of choice was contraceptive pills. Acceptors of family planning methods during the intervention was assessed at one- and three-months after Usapan to evaluate their family planning practices. After one month, 80% of those who accepted were still using family planning methods while it decreased to 64.5% at three months after Usapan. It is therefore concluded in this study that Usapan Session can serve as an effective strategy in the promotion of family planning practices among teenage mothers.
