An unmatched (1:2) case-control study was conducted to identify factors predictive of voluntary submission for HIV testing among males having sex with males (MSM) in Zambonaga City. Thirty (30) MSM who already submitted themselves for HIV testing and sixty (60) MSM who have not yet gone through HIV testing were traced and participated as cases and controls respectively. Data for this research were gathered using a standard self-administered questionnaire. A multiple logistic regression analysis was done and results showed that the odds of submitting oneself to voluntary HIV testing is 10.67 times higher among high school undergraduate (95% CI=1.42-100.98) compared to non-high school undergraduate and 4.44 times higher among those who had sexual debut with a male between ages 21-25 years old (95% CI=1.02-20.25) This study proved that predictors associated with submission for voluntary HIV testing among MSM in Zamboanga City are ranging from socio-demographic, risk behavioural, barriers, facilitating factor. Access to health facility does not guarantee into utilization. Confidentiality is a fundamental principle and of particular importance to HIV testing. It is therefore recommended that with the expanded education and social marketing, improving the facility related factors and ensuring a welcoming and nonjudgmental environment for HIV testing is needed.
