The job of a teacher is considered to be highly stressful and much of their stressors are work-related. This study aimed to determine the stress level and coping strategies of the Senior High School teachers doing online teaching in Ateneo de Zamboanga University. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study with a total of 90 respondents. Total count sampling method was used to gather respondents. Their level of stress and coping methods were assessed utilizing the Teacher Occupational Stress Scale Questionnaire and Brief COPE Inventory, respectively. SPSS Version 23 software and Microsoft Excel were used to analyze the data descriptively. Results showed that more than one third, 33 out of 90 (36.6%) senior high school teachers were under moderate range of stress. The most frequently used coping mechanism among the respondents was looking for something good amid stressful circumstances 50 (55.5%).
This research recommends the following: (1) replication of this study using a much larger sample of teachers and; (3) conduct of an intervention for those teachers who are using maladaptive approach to stressful situation.
