Remote teaching has been the main educational teaching modality utilized by many teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the social restriction and modifications on teaching modalities brought about by the pandemic, the mental health of the teachers may also be affected. This study aimed to determine the level of perceived stress and burnout of grade school teachers involved in remote teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study employed a cross-sectional research design and convenience sampling was used to select a total of 166 respondents from Ateneo de Zamboanga University-Grade School (private school) and Tetuan Central School (public school).Perceived Stress Scale and Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire were utilized to assess the perceived stress and burnout, respectively among the respondents. These were designed online via Google form for data collection. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 16 with Chi-square as the main statistical treatment. Results revealed that the majority of the respondents have a moderate level of perceived stress (77.71%) and a moderate level of burnout (70.4%). With regard to the high level of perceived stress (2.4%) and high level of burnout (1.8%), the prevalence was smaller than the rate found in other studies. In terms of the type of school, no significant difference was noted for perceived stress (p-value=0.748) but a significant difference was noted on burnout (p-value=0.026). In line with this, no significant difference was noted in comparison of the burnout level to the socio-demographic variables. However, for perceived stress, only the educational attainment (p-value=.000) has shown significant results among the socio-demographic variables. Thus, grade school teachers may need stress reduction to maintain and improve their mental well-being and avoid burnout breakdown on their work. Stress management activities are recommended to help teachers cope and handle stress to prevent further psychological consequences.
