The COVID-19 pandemic has brought up issues regarding the mental health of health care workers especially new doctors in the new normal hospital setting. This study sought to determine the stressors and explore how these stressors affect their coping strategies of these hospital-based new doctors in the new normal hospital setting. 31 hospital-based new doctors were given a questionnaire called the “Perceived Stress Scale†to answer then out of those answers, 13 of these new doctors were chosen to undertake an interview to further explore and give insights on their stressors and coping strategies. The excerpt from the interviews were transcribed and translated for coding and thematic analysis. Out of the thematic analysis, the study discovered 4 stressors being experienced by these hospital-based new doctors being, getting infected of COVID-19, lack of Personal Protective Equipment, limitations of physical examinations, and inconsistencies from hospital protocols. The study also explored the coping strategies these hospital-based new doctors used to alleviate such stressors which would be communication, use of distraction, and acceptance.
