This study aims to determine the effect of lecture on modern family planning on the knowledge and acceptance rate among wives only vs couples in two selected barangays in the Municipality of Lakewood. A quasi experimental design was used to determine the impact of the intervention by comparing its effect on the knowledge and acceptance rate on modern family planning methods among the two groups of respondents, both of which are non- acceptors of contraceptive methods. In the wives only group, there are a total of 32 respondents while 35 couples represented the couples group. Knowledge was evaluated using a 20- item questionnaire before the intervention, right after, 1 month and 2 months after the intervention. For the pre intervention exam, only 11 out of 32 respondents (34%) passed the exam in the wives only group and only 8 out of 35 (23%) respondents passed the exam in the couples group. Post intervention 1 showed an increased in the number of passers from both groups with 26 passers (81%) in the wives only group, and 31 passers (89%) in the couples group. However, there was a decrease during the post intervention 2as 25 (71%) respondents have passed the exam in the wives only group. While in the couples group, there are 29 (83%) respondents who passed. Moreover, a further decrease can be observed during the post intervention 3in the wives only group, 19 (59%) respondents passed. While in the couples group, 23 (66%) have passed the exam. For the acceptance rate, a total of 43% (15 out of 35) from the couples group decided to utilize a modern family planning method after the intervention, while 19% (6 out of 32) from the wives only group started to utilize modern family planning method. In conclusion, a lecture is more effective in increasing the knowledge and acceptance rate on modern family planning if the respondents are couples.
