Diarrhea remains one of the leading public health issues and is a major contributor in morbidity and mortality in children under five years of age. This study combined the evidence based interventions, such as Oresol and Zinc with an addition of an informational pamphlet, in a “Diarrhea Pack†to reduce the burden of diarrhea at home level in the community. The study sought to evaluate the knowledge, practices and utilization rate of Diarrhea Pack in the home management of childhood diarrhea in Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur. This was a pre and post intervention which measured the knowledge and skills of the primary caregivers. Data for knowledge was analyzed using paired T-Test in evaluating the mean score differences. After the intervention, there was a significant increase in the mean knowledge scores given the p-value of 0.000. For the practices, a Likert Scale was used for evaluation then was analyzed using the McNemar test. There was a significant increased in the number of respondents who were able to managed diarrhea at home level by properly giving oresol and zinc, not buying unprescribed medications and by appropriate referral. However, there were no improvements in terms of the feeding practices during diarrhea as seen in the post evaluation result. As for the utilization rate of oresol and zinc it was measured through frequency and percentage. Results showed that the utilization rate were 100% and 96%, respectively. Overall, the result of the study showed that the Diarrhea Pack had improved the knowledge, practices and its utilization rate among primary caregivers who have under five children in the Municipality of Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur.
