This is a pre and post interventional research study that aimed to see the effect of locally produced Indigenous Supplementary Mixture (INSUMIX) on the nutritional status of children 6 to 24 months of Barangays San Jose and Danao, Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte. The Municipality of Sergio Osmeña ranks number one in malnutrition in the whole Zamboanga del Norte province for year 2106. Purposive sampling was utilized in this study. There were 53 respondents involved in this study. Weight monitoring before the intervention showed that 51% of the respondents did not have normal weight for age (underweight and severely underweight) while 83% of the respondents did not have normal height for age (stunted and severely stunted). INSUMIX which was produced by using locally available ingredients corn flour, mongo beans, carrot, squash and sesame seeds was given on daily basis for 3 months to the respondents. After 3 months of INSUMIX feeding, results showed that only 15% did not have normal weight for age and only 38% did not have normal height for age. There was a mean weight gain of 1.1 kg and mean height gain of 8.2 cm after 3 months of INSUMIX consumption. There was a significant improvement in height and weight having a p-value <0.000. The study showed that locally made INSUMIX was effective in improving the nutritional status of children. These result encouraged local nutritionist and mothers to use INSUMIX as supplementary food for the 6-24 months age group and may solve the malnutrition problem in those communities.
