This study was conducted to compare lecture with pamphlet and social media as health promotional tool on the knowledge and practices of grades 9 and 10 students regarding STD and HIV/AIDS. The study utilized a quasi-experimental design. A total of 234 grades 9 and 10 respondents were selected, with 117 respondents each from Boniao National High School, Municipality of Mahayag, ZdS, and Molave Vocational Technical School in Municipality of Molave, ZdS. Baseline knowledge and practices of respondents were assessed through pretested questionnaires. Post-intervention assessments were given on 3 different times. First post-test was given right after the intervention of each group, second post-test was given after 4 weeks, and the last post-test was given 8 weeks after intervention using the same questionnaires. Data gathered were statistically treated using McNemar’s Test and Z-Test of Proportions for the knowledge part of the study, and Frequencies and Percentages for the practices part. The result showed that the knowledge and practices of both groups were comparable before the interventions. The knowledge part of both groups increased significantly after the intervention with p. value of each group at 0.000. However, the post-intervention knowledge scores revealed no significant difference between the 2 groups. The practices part also showed no statistical difference before and after intervention between the 2 groups. It is concluded that social media and lecture with pamphlet were equally effective in improving the knowledge of students. In terms of practices, it cannot be concluded as to which health teaching form was more effective since both were as effective, and the frequency and percentage of both groups showed good practices prior to intervention.
